First Grass Snake of the Year

Yesterday I had a quick look at one of my Grass Snake Natrix natrix sites. It is not a place with big numbers the most I have seen in one visit is 4 but it is more usual to see none, one or two. So I was pleased to find a biggish female and possibly a second snake which went under a rock (they often retreat into rabbit holes at this site). She was a lot easier to photograph than most grass snakes. Like female adders she had an obvious taper just below the cloaca giving a tailed appearance. My Little Owl pair also seem to be getting more used to my car.
